Biology 201 Biological Issues: Emerging Diseases

Beloit College Department of Biology

These pages provide a guide to information about emerging diseases and a series of links for research about emerging diseases in the world. We have tried to take an interdisciplinary approach. You will find links to sources about the history of plagues, discussions about the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, as well as links to the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization and other international sites. There are also activities for the students enrolled in the course, Biological Issues: Emerging Diseases (Bio 201) at Beloit College. There is a tremendous amount of information about emerging diseases on the World Wide Web. These links are meant to be an introduction, not an exhaustive list.
